Join our private historical walking tour around the illuminated “Lady of the Cyclades” or Ermoupolis, a cosmopolitan town rich in history, culture and vibrant atmosphere! This experience will tempt all your senses, as it will take you around the magnificent capital of the Cyclades for a splash of cosmopolitan atmosphere and let you taste the true local “Aegean Cuisine”, which guarantees the use of pure ingredients and original products coming from the Aegean islands and are known to combine intense flavor, quality, and uniqueness.
This historic tour starts at the Church of the Assumption of our Lady that has the unique masterpiece of the “Dormition of Virgin Mary” created in the 16th century by the famous Cretan painter Dominikos Theotokopoulos, known as ‘El Greco’. We continue walking through the local shopping market, to arrive at Miaouli Square in front of the distinguished Town Hall that preserves its imposing neoclassical character. We will pass by the National Library, the Cultural Center of Ermoupolis and stop at the Apollon Theatre which is still one of the most impressive opera theaters in Greece. We will continue to the War Memorial of the Unknown Soldier which stands just in front of the majestic St. Nicolas church, the patron Saint of the island, and just around the corner, we arrive to the famous Vaporia area that has a compilation of the impressive neoclassical mansions of the wealthy ship owners, which offer unique views to the “Little Venice” area, the Aegean sea and Ermoupolis town.
A unique walk through the beautifully-lit Ermoupolis may come as a surprise, as one can hear the drums and orchestras playing music from various neoclassical buildings as you pass by the galleries, shops, fancy street districts with unique atmosphere and great choice of restaurants. Finally we arrive at the well known restaurant that owes its success to the explicit dishes which carry the signature of the Aegean Cuisine. To end your true “Ermoupolis” experience, you will enjoy a lunch or dinner that includes a three course meal and local sweet, carefully selected to pamper every taste, in a company of your guide.
